Central Florida Film and Video Festival
Experimental
Any production of non-commercial nature that avoids normal narrative lines
and any realistic depiction of the world. It presents what is often a personal
or subjective expression of the filmmaker's psyche through an exploration of
the film or video medium itself.
Examples:
She's Just Growing Up, Dear
Director: Julia Tell
1st Place Experimental 1992.
Powerful recollections of a woman's emerging realization that she was
sexually abused as a child by her father are combined with kitsch 50's media
imagery to produce this haunting examination of the profound emotional
complexity of incest. It contrasts the constructed images of American
family values with the unforgettable voice of reality. Currently being
distributed by Women Make Movies.
Allure of the Threshold
Director: Bret Lama
.
1st Place Experimental 1993.
This film details the experience of a woman forced into facing the dark
reality of her soul. Surrounded by the walls of her subconscious, she
focuses on the only light she can see, an open window that allows her to
ignore the darkness that engulfs her. As her world becomes louder and
chaotic, she can no longer sit in ignorance and is thrown to the torment of
knowledge. Distributed by Alternative Filmworks.
