The 1994 Winners
Experimental Films
1. White Monkey
This Disturbing short invokes a powerful metaphor of institutional autocracy
over race and gender. A woman in an institution, suffering from Post-natal psychosis, is forced
by nurses and doctors to break the cultural traditions which govern her birth.

2. The Smell of Burning Ants
A haunting account of the pains of growing up male. The Smell of Burning Ants evocatively presents the inner
and outer cruelties that boys perpetrate and endure rather than glorifying and romanticizing boyhood.
This film shows macho indoctrination as the horror it truly is.
Jay Rosenblatt

San Francisco, Ca 94114
3. When the Cock Crows
Established to serve God, the Catholic Church's origin and it's current
agenda could not be more dissimilar. No longer driven by the purity of the
Christ message, the church finds its motivation grounded in politics, money, and cultural imperialism.
The Vatican, teThe Vatican, tehe world's premier public relations firm, has used
spirituality as a guise to shape and control centuries of free thought and
evolution. Wadging a war of damnation - its goal being that of the most intimate kind - the annihilation of the human soul
When the Cock Crows iconclastically scrapes the corruption, the manipulation,
and exposes the evil of a dogma entrenched in exclusion. The film reaffirms that
the Christ energy exists in the individual. Spirituality needs no surrogate but
asks for and requires direct acess.
