:: ARTAUD

4/02/03

Artaud was constantly trying to separate the voice from the body... finding a way for the voice to speak outside of the body...

What is so radical about crooning... it's romantic and relies upon microphone... you can here more of the breath... a microphone allows you to hear the insides of people's mouths...

a new form of listening that implied listening inside the notes… (as in monotone notes) there’s something about microphony that forces you to listen inside the sounds and inside the body…

In a sense “To Have Done with the Judgment of God” was a counter-shock to the electro-shock treatments that Artaud had received. “Judgment..” was banned from the radio…

questions of readership and listener-ship… in terms of Artaud… What is an ideal reader to Artaud? What does his narrative (or lack of narrative) position lend itself to?

What is to be a listener/reader of Artaud? What readerly position does Artaud put us into?
